Reyax RYLR896 LoRa Transceiver
Plug in a Reyax RYLR896 LoRa transceiver to connect Palpable devices over radio when WiFi can't reach. Wire 4 pins (3.3V, GND, TX, RX) to the Pi's GPIO header and devices start sharing sensor data automatically.
Good to know
- Range depends on environment: up to 15 km line of sight, ~300m through buildings.
- Frequency is auto-selected from the device's WiFi country code to comply with regional ISM regulations.
About it
The RYLR896 uses a Semtech SX1276 chip with +15 dBm output for up to 15 km range (line of sight). The SX1276's superior sensitivity (-148 dBm) makes it ideal for low-data-rate sensor networks. Connect to the Pi Zero 2W's UART pins (GPIO14 TX, GPIO15 RX) with 4 wires. The system handles frequency selection, encryption, and peer discovery — scripts and displays work exactly as if all devices were on the same WiFi network.
