M5Stack DAC Unit (MCP4725)
Output a precise analog voltage from 0 V to VCC. A 12-bit DAC for driving analog inputs, dimming, biasing, or generating control signals.
When to pick it
Use when a project needs to OUTPUT an analog voltage — control signals, bias/reference voltages, analog dimming, or software-generated waveforms.
Good to know
- This is an OUTPUT (DAC), not an input — it cannot read analog voltages.
- Full-scale output equals VCC, so the maximum voltage depends on whether the unit is powered at 3.3 V or 5 V.
About it
The M5Stack DAC Unit uses a Microchip MCP4725 single-channel 12-bit digital-to-analog converter on a Grove I2C port. It turns a digital value (0–4095) into a steady analog voltage between 0 V and the supply rail (VDD/4096 per step), so the device can drive analog control inputs, set reference/bias voltages, dim analog circuits, or synthesize slow waveforms in software. Output is buffered and holds its last value.
