VEML7700 Ambient Light Sensor
Measures ambient light levels in lux. Useful for light control, display brightness control, and daylight monitoring.
Say it to PAL
“Do something when the light changes.”
The code PAL writes
p.onSensorChange('qwiic-veml7700', 'lux', (lux) => {
if (lux < 50) p.notify('Getting dark: ' + lux + ' lux');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();When to pick it
Simple ambient light (lux) sensor with huge range (0-120k lux). Default pick for brightness sensing, adaptive lighting, daylight detection.
Good to know
- Can saturate above ~120k lux (direct sunlight) — for most indoor use this is not an issue.
About it
An ambient light sensor with high sensitivity across a wide dynamic range (0 to 120,000 lux). Commonly used to automate lighting based on natural light availability, adjust display brightness, or monitor light exposure for plant growth and photography applications.
