When to pick it

You want stereo speaker output and microphones on a Raspberry Pi from one HAT.

About it

Waveshare's WM8960 Audio HAT. Its codec sits at I2C 0x1A, exactly where the ReSpeaker 2-Mics HAT v1.x puts the same codec, so the board cannot tell the two apart and asks which one it is (AUDIO_HAT=wm8960-soundcard). The overlay ships with the Raspberry Pi kernel (Alpine linux-rpi carries wm8960-soundcard.dtbo).
