Palpable vs Arduino Cloud

Arduino Cloud adds dashboards, OTA, and an AI assistant on top of Arduino boards — but you still write the sketch and wire the board. Palpable writes and runs the code for you.

Palpable
Arduino Cloud
Who writes the code
PAL — from a plain-English description
You, in the Arduino sketch
Wiring
Plug-and-play Qwiic — PAL detects modules
You wire and configure each board
AI
PAL writes, deploys, and debugs live hardware
Assistant helps draft sketches (Maker tier capped)
Schematic / hardware design
Not needed
Manual
Offline
Scripts run locally on the device
Depends on your sketch
After it ships
OTA updates with automatic rollback
OTA available; you manage firmware

When Arduino Cloud is the better choice

If you are learning embedded development, want to write C/C++ yourself, or are already invested in the Arduino ecosystem and its boards, Arduino Cloud is a mature, well-supported home for that work.

If the point is to learn to code microcontrollers, Arduino is excellent. But if the point is the device — you want the behavior to exist, not to hand-write and debug sketches — Palpable lets you describe it and have PAL run it on a Pi.

Questions

Is Palpable just Arduino with AI on top?

No. Arduino Cloud still expects you to write and maintain sketches. With Palpable, PAL writes the code and runs it on a Raspberry Pi; you describe behavior in plain language.

Do I need to wire boards myself?

No. Certified Qwiic modules are plug-and-play and PAL auto-detects them — no breadboarding or pin configuration.

Can I still access the code and data?

Yes. Scripts are TypeScript and every project gets REST and WebSocket APIs plus a CLI.

Make something you can hold.
