Grove SHT31 / SHT35 Temperature & Humidity Sensor
Sensirion SHT31 or SHT35 on a Grove board: accurate temperature and relative humidity, every reading CRC-checked.
Say it to PAL
“Tell me when the air gets too humid.”
The code PAL writes
p.onSensorChange('grove-sht3x', 'humidity', (rh) => {
if (rh > 70) p.notify('Humidity is ' + rh.toFixed(0) + '% - open a window');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();When to pick it
Use for accurate air temperature and humidity. The SHT35 variant is the most accurate humidity sensor in the Grove range.
Good to know
- Mount it away from warm parts (a Raspberry Pi's CPU heats a board next to it by several degrees).
About it
Seeed sells the Sensirion SHT3x in two Grove boards: the SHT31 (±0.3 °C, ±2 %RH, address 0x44) and the higher-accuracy SHT35 (±0.1 °C, ±1.5 %RH, address 0x45 by default). Both answer the same commands, so one module drives either. Palpable uses the single-shot command without clock stretching, which the Raspberry Pi's I2C controller cannot follow reliably, and drops any reading whose CRC fails.

Facts
Tested
Its driver works. We have not signed it off on a real board yet.
I2C address
The Grove SHT31 / SHT35 Temperature & Humidity Sensor answers at I2C address 0x44. A jumper or pin moves it to 0x45.
Board size
40 × 20 mm
The Temp & Humidity board measures 40 × 20 mm and stands 6.8 mm tall with its parts. It has no mounting holes. These dimensions are from the maker’s mechanical drawing.
