AS7341 10-Channel Spectral Sensor
10-channel spectral sensor covering 415nm to 680nm visible, plus clear and near-infrared. Ideal for color science and light quality analysis.
Say it to PAL
“Read every color it can see.”
The code PAL writes
const spectrum = await p.read('qwiic-as7341', 'ch_415nm');
p.log(`Violet (415nm): ${spectrum} counts`);“Tell me how warm or cool the light is.”
The code PAL writes
p.onSensorChange('qwiic-as7341', 'ch_630nm', async (red) => {
const blue = await p.read('qwiic-as7341', 'ch_480nm');
const ratio = red / (blue || 1);
p.log(`Red/Blue ratio: ${ratio.toFixed(2)}`);
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();When to pick it
10-channel spectral analysis for color science, grow light quality, or material classification. More affordable and simpler than AS7265x (18 channels). Choose over simple RGB sensors when spectral detail matters.
Good to know
- The AS7341 reads channels in two groups (F1-F4 + clear/NIR, then F5-F8 + clear/NIR). A full 10-channel read requires two integration cycles.
About it
The AS7341 is a 10-channel spectral sensor with 8 visible-light channels (415-680nm), a clear channel, and a near-infrared channel. Unlike simple RGB sensors, it provides detailed spectral power distribution enabling accurate color temperature measurement, light quality assessment, spectral matching, and plant grow-light optimization. The onboard LED can illuminate samples for reflectance measurements.
