Say it to PAL

“What is the air pressure right now?”

The code PAL writes

const pressure = await p.read('qwiic-dps310', 'pressure');
p.log(`Pressure: ${pressure.toFixed(3)} hPa`);

“Warn me when the air pressure drops, before the weather turns.”

The code PAL writes

p.onSensorChange('qwiic-dps310', 'pressure', (hpa) => {
  p.log(`Pressure: ${hpa.toFixed(2)} hPa`);
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();

When to pick it

Use when you need ultra-precise pressure/altitude measurement. Far more precise than BME280 (±0.002 vs ±1 hPa). Ideal for altimetry, drone altitude hold, indoor floor detection, or precision weather instruments. Does NOT measure humidity — pair with SHT40 if needed.

Good to know

  • Reads absolute pressure — must subtract local sea-level reference for altitude. Weather changes affect altitude readings.
  • Temperature sensor is intended for compensation, not precision measurement. Use TMP117 for accurate temperature.
  • Calibration coefficients are read from sensor OTP at init. If init fails, readings are garbage.

About it

The Infineon DPS310 is a high-precision barometric pressure sensor with exceptional accuracy (±0.002 hPa, equivalent to ±0.02m altitude resolution). It uses a capacitive MEMS element and is temperature-compensated internally. The extreme precision makes it suitable for indoor floor detection, drone altitude hold, and precision weather tracking. Also provides temperature readings.
