Say it to PAL

“Keep an eye on the temperature of the probe.”

The code PAL writes

p.onSensorChange('qwiic-mcp9600', 'thermocouple', (temp) => {
  if (temp > 200) p.notify('High temp: ' + temp + '°C');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();

When to pick it

Extreme temperature ranges (-200°C to 1372°C) using thermocouple probes. Only for furnaces, kilns, ovens, exhaust — regular sensors top out at 150°C.

Good to know

  • Requires a separate thermocouple probe (not included). Make sure you have one.
  • Supports 6 thermocouple types (K, J, T, N, S, E) — must match probe to config.
  • Cold junction compensation is automatic but can drift if the board itself gets hot.

About it

A thermocouple-to-I2C converter with integrated cold-junction compensation. Supports K, J, T, N, S, E, B, and R thermocouple types. The wide temperature range makes it suitable for industrial processes, ovens, furnaces, and cryogenic applications. A K-type thermocouple probe must be connected separately.
