SCD41 CO2, Temperature & Humidity Sensor
Measures CO2 concentration, temperature, and humidity. Useful for monitoring indoor air quality and ventilation needs.
Say it to PAL
“Tell me when there is too much CO2 in the room.”
The code PAL writes
p.onSensorChange('qwiic-scd41', 'co2', (co2) => {
if (co2 > 1200) p.notify('High CO2: ' + co2 + ' ppm');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();When to pick it
The only true CO2 sensor. Measures carbon dioxide directly (400-5000 ppm). Essential for ventilation monitoring, grow rooms, or air quality. Also reads temp/humidity but less accurately than dedicated sensors.
Good to know
- Needs 2-3 minutes to warm up after power-on. First readings are garbage.
- Needs airflow — don't put it in a sealed enclosure or it just measures its own rising CO2.
- Also reads temp and humidity, but less accurate than BME280/SHT40. Use a dedicated sensor if precision matters.
About it
A true CO2 sensor using photoacoustic measurement technology. Detects CO2 from 400 to 5000 ppm, with temperature and humidity readings included. Elevated CO2 levels (above ~1000 ppm) can indicate inadequate ventilation. Commonly used in HVAC systems, classrooms, and workspace monitoring.
