SHT40 Temperature & Humidity Sensor
Measures temperature and humidity with high precision. Good for monitoring greenhouses, storage areas, or any space where humidity matters.
Say it to PAL
“Keep an eye on the humidity.”
The code PAL writes
p.onSensorChange('qwiic-sht40', 'humidity', (rh) => {
if (rh > 70) p.notify('High humidity: ' + rh + '%');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();“What is the temperature and humidity in here?”
The code PAL writes
const temp = await p.read('qwiic-sht40', 'temperature');
const hum = await p.read('qwiic-sht40', 'humidity');
p.log(`${temp}°C, ${hum}% RH`);When to pick it
Better temp/humidity accuracy than BME280 but no pressure. Pick this when precision matters more than having pressure data.
Good to know
- Heater function exists but use sparingly — it's for de-fogging the sensor, not routine readings.
- Needs airflow around the sensor for accurate humidity. Don't seal it in a tight enclosure.
About it
A precision humidity and temperature sensor with ±0.2°C and ±1.8% RH accuracy. Suitable for climate monitoring, cleanroom conditions, or protecting humidity-sensitive equipment. Low power consumption makes it appropriate for battery-powered applications.
Facts
Tested
We connected it to a Raspberry Pi, read it over its real connection, checked that it gives accurate readings through Palpable, and signed it off.
