Say it to PAL

“Tell me when the UV light gets strong.”

The code PAL writes

p.onSensorChange('sparkfun-as7331', 'uva', (uva) => {
  if (uva > 20000) p.log('Strong UVA');
});
await p.waitUntilStopped();

Good to know

  • The part is 3.3 V only: on a 5 V Grove port use a Grove-Qwiic hub with its own 3.3 V regulator.

About it

The ams OSRAM AS7331 measures ultraviolet light in three bands, UVA, UVB and UVC, as 16-bit counts over I2C at 0x74-0x77. SparkFun sells it as the Spectral UV Sensor in a 1x1 inch and a Mini board, both with Qwiic connectors and no regulator: the part is specified for 2.7-3.6 V only.
